Lethbridge, AB – July 3, 2024 – The Link Pathway Committee is thrilled to announce a generous donation from Simplot Grower Solutions, a prominent local agricultural company. This donation marks a significant milestone in the ongoing development of the pathway, which aims to connect the communities of Lethbridge and Coaldale.
“We at Simplot Grower Solutions are proud to announce that we are sponsoring $25,000 towards a pedestrian Bridge on the MPE Link Pathway,” says John Koot, Location Operations Manager for Chin. “Our hope is that it will get people interested in farming and farming practices as it winds its way along the irrigation canal past fields of potatoes, canola, wheat, barley, alfalfa, feed corn, oats and more. The region is rich with diverse crops because of irrigation that comes from the Saint Mary's Reservoir.”
"We are incredibly grateful for Simplot's substantial contribution," said Henry Doeve, Chair of the Link Pathway Committee. "This donation will go directly towards building a bridge over the canals which showcase the importance of irrigation to agriculture in the region."
The MPE Link Pathway is a testament to the collaborative spirit of southern Alberta's agricultural and local business sectors. The partnership with Simplot exemplifies how local ag companies are stepping up to showcase and support the region's vibrant agricultural culture.
"The Link Pathway is not just about creating a physical connection between two communities; it's about fostering a deeper sense of unity and appreciation for our local environment and agricultural heritage," Doeve added.
